Can I take my passport photo with my phone at home?

Yes! Modern smartphone cameras exceed the resolution requirements for biometric passport photos. Stand 4 to 6 feet away against an uncluttered wall in a well-lit room, look straight at the camera with a neutral expression, and take a photo. QuickPhotoGov automatically removes the background to compliant pure white, checks eye alignment, and crops to exact millimeter specifications.

What are the standard passport photo sizes for the US, Schengen, and India?

United States (and India Visa/OCI) requires a 2x2 inch (51x51 mm / 600x600 px) photo with head height between 50% and 69%. Schengen European Union member states and Indian Passport Seva Kendra require a 35x45 mm (413x531 px at 300 DPI) photo with face height between 70% and 80% (32mm to 36mm). QuickPhotoGov supports 168+ countries automatically.

What is 35x45 mm and 2x2 inches in digital pixels at 300 DPI?

At standard 300 DPI print quality: (1) A 35x45 mm passport photo equals exactly 413 × 531 pixels. (2) A 2x2 inch (51x51 mm) photo equals exactly 600 × 600 pixels (or 602 × 602 pixels at true metric conversion). (3) A Canadian 50x70 mm photo equals 591 × 827 pixels.

Why do passport offices and visa consulates reject photos?

The top 6 rejection reasons worldwide are: (1) Smiling with teeth visible or mouth open, (2) Hair covering eyebrows, eyes, or cheek contours, (3) Harsh shadows behind ears or across the face, (4) Head tilted sideways or turned off-angle, (5) Wearing eyeglasses with flash glare, and (6) Distorted aspect ratio from poor manual cropping.

Can I wear eyeglasses, tinted lenses, or colored contacts?

Eyeglasses are strictly forbidden for US passports, Indian passports, and Schengen visas since 2016 to prevent lens glare and reflection from obscuring iris biometrics. The only exception is documented medical necessity with a signed doctor's note. Sunglasses, tinted glasses, and decorative colored contact lenses are completely prohibited.

Can I wear a religious hijab, turban, yarmulke, or headscarf?

Yes! Religious head coverings (such as hijabs, turbans, dastaars, or yarmulkes) are permitted under ICAO, US State Dept, and international consular guidelines provided they are worn continuously as part of daily religious practice. The headwear must not cast shadows on the face, and the entire facial oval from chin to hairline and both cheek edges must remain fully visible.

How do I print a 2x2 inch or 35x45 mm passport photo cheaply at Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart?

Instead of paying $17 to $20 for standard pharmacy passport printing services, export your formatted photo from QuickPhotoGov. Place it onto a standard 4x6 inch print template (which holds two 2x2 inch photos or six 35x45mm photos). Order a regular 4x6 inch photo print at Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart for roughly $0.35 to $0.40, then cut the photos out with scissors.

Do my private photos ever leave my device or get uploaded to a cloud server?

No, never. QuickPhotoGov uses client-side WebAssembly (WASM) and WebGL to run all vision models directly inside your web browser. Your private biometric photos are processed entirely in your device's local memory and are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any external server.
